Hyundai Xcent compact sedan launching tomorrow; to rival Amaze and Dzire

Hyundai Xcent launched

South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai is all set to launch the much-awaited Xcent compact sedan aka Grand i10 sedan in the Indian car market tomorrow. It will compete against the likes of Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift Dzire. Unveiled at the recently held 2014 Indian Auto Expo, the compact sedan is likely to be priced under Rs. 5 lakh.

Based on the Grand i10 hatchback, the Hyundai Xcent compact sedan will be offered in both petrol and diesel version. The gasoline model gets the 1.2-litre engine that develops 82bhp and 114Nm of torque, while the oil burner has 1.1-litre URDi engine that churns out a max power output of 70bhp and 160Nm of top torque. The diesel engine is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol engine is mated to either a five-speed or/and 4-speed auto gearbox.

Hyundai Xcent is a sub-4 metre sedan, which is specifically designed to make full advantage of the excise duty benefit in India. It shares its exterior styling with its sibling hatch, which makes the front and side profile identical. However, the addition of boot is what distinguishes the compact sedan with Grand i10 hatchback.

Like its exterior styling, the Hyundai Xcent takes it design elements from hatchback that means the vehicle will have generous space and top notch fit and finish. The vehicle also features best-in-segment features such as automatic climate control, rear AC vents, smart key with push button start; 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, auto folding mirrors and electro-chromic mirrors, and many more.
