Hyundai Venue production begins; Launch May 21, Bookings Open

Hyundai Venue production also marks Hyundai’s 23rd Foundation Day in Inida.

The Korean automaker has started mass production of the much-awaited Hyundai Venue SUV at its manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. The sub-4 meter SUV is scheduled to be launched in the country on May 21, 2019. To be the brand’s smallest SUV, the Hyundai Venue will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the segment-leader Maruti Vitara Brezza.

The first model has been rolled out at the company’s factory today, which also marks Hyundai’s 23rd Foundation Day in India. The Venue will be the brand’s global entry-level SUV and is set to launch in the North American market soon. Bookings for the SUV have already been started at a token amount of Rs 21,000. The Hyundai Venue compact SUV will be available in 4 trim levels – E, S, SX and SX (O) – and in total of 13 variants. The SUV will come in four engine gearbox combinations. It will be available in 3 engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel. While the turbo petrol engine is available with 2 gearbox choices – 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT, the 1.2L unit is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 1.0L and 1.2L petrol engine offers 118bhp/172Nm and 83bhp/115Nm respectively. The oil burner is good for 89bhp of power and 220Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Hyundai Venue is available with a range of segment-leading features including wireless charger, Blue Link connectivity solution, air purifier, projector fog lamps, HD display screen, wheel air curtains, arkamys sound, eco-coating and many more.
