Hyundai Venue Beats Maruti Vitara Brezza to become India’s Best-Selling SUV
Hyundai had launched the Venue sub-4 meter SUV in the country on May 21. The SUV has been receiving excellent response from buyers with bookings crossed 50,000 mark in less than 2 months. In fact, in May 2019 the Venue was the second best-selling model left behind with just 108 units from the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
Claimed to be India’s first connected SUV, the Hyundai Venue now becomes the country’s best-selling SUV in July 2019 sales. The company had delivered 9,585 units in July 2019, while the Vitara Brezza sales stand at 5,302 units. Hyundai had delivered 6,585 units of the Creta SUV in July 2019. Mahindra sold 4,464 units of the XUV300 in July.
Hyundai Motor India, the country’s second largest carmaker registered the domestic sales of 39,010 units and exports of 18,300 units with cumulative sales of 57,310 units for the month of July 2019. The Korean brand claims that the Blue-Link enabled variants of the Venue accounts for 55 per cent of the total bookings. Adding to it, the Venue DCT version accounts for 35 per cent of the total bookings. It is the only SUV in its category to feature the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 118bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. Other engine options include 82bhp, 1.2-litre petrol and 89bhp, 1.4-litre diesel. Available in six trim levels – E, S, SX, SX Dual tone, SX+ and SX(O), the Hyundai Venue is priced between Rs 6.50 lakh and Rs 10.84 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is also the first vehicle in its category to feature the BlueLink connectivity solution that offers 33 connected features.
