Hyundai Styx QXi to Get 2 Petrol and 1 Diesel Engines – Details Emerge

Hyundai Styx Launch Details

Hyundai Styx QXi compact SUV will mark the debut of new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Korean automaker, Hyundai is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited sub-4 meter SUV – codenamed QXi. Likely to be called Hyundai Styx, the compact SUV is scheduled to make global debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show. Ahead of the possible launch in May-June, the engine specifications and other details of the Hyundai QXi compact SUV have been leaked on the internet.

According to the AutoCarIndia, the Hyundai QXi compact SUV will be available with 3 engine options – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol, a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is claimed to offer 100bhp of power and 172Nm of torque. While the regular petrol and diesel engines will be in-line with the competition, the turbo-charged petrol engine will give a significant torque advantage.

The 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines will be paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The big news is that the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine will be coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which will make the Hyundai QXi the only compact SUV to offer dual-clutch automatic option. Ford had launched the EcoSport with a dual-clutch box, but it was discontinued in the facelifted model. The facelifted EcoSport is now available with a six-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The Hyundai QXi 1.0-litre version with dual-clutch automatic gearbox is expected to be significantly expensive than the regular 1.4-litre manual variant. This variant will be equipped with several high-end features like a large touchscreen infotainment system, an electric sunroof, all-4 disc brakes, etc. The report also suggests that the Styx could also receive several segment-first features such as ventilated front seats. The Hyundai QXi styling will be inspired with the new breed of Hyundai cars including Kona, Santa Fe and Palisade. It will get the new cascading grille with a split daytime running light and headlight setup. The compact SUV will directly rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the just-launched Mahindra XUV300.
