Hyundai Staria Engine Details Revealed; To Rival Kia Carnival

Hyundai Staria, the all-new MPV from the South Korean carmaker, made its world debut in the third week of March 2021. Now, the carmaker has revealed its engine and dimension details. The new MPV measures 5,253mm in length, 1,997mm in width and has a wheelbase of 3,273mm. While the height of the passenger version stands at 1,990mm, its commercial model is 2,000mm tall.

Compared to the Kia Carnival , the upcoming Staria is longer, wider, taller and more spacious. The Carnival is 5,115mm long, 1,985mm wide, 1740mm-1,755mm tall and it sits on 3,060mm of wheelbase. Buyers will have multiple seating configurations to choose from right from 2-seats to 11-seats layout. The 2 and3 seating arrangement has been designed especially for the business purpose. It offers a massive boot space of 5,000 litres.

Hyundai Staria India Launch

The Europe-spec Hyundai Staria will come with a 2.2L, 4-cylinder diesel engine delivering power worth 172bhp and 431Nm of torque. The MPV can be had with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In other markets, the upcoming Hyundai MPV is likely to be offered with 3.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine that will push out power close to 265bhp and 331Nm of torque. The carmaker might also introduce a fuel-cell version of the MPV.

Hyundai Staria Interior

The Staria MPV will come in a choice of 8 exterior colour schemes and 5 interior themes with dual-tone finishes. The model is slated to launch in the European market towards the end of this year. As of now, the South Korean carmaker has no plan to bring in the Hyundai Staria in India.

If reports are to be believed, the company is planning to foray into the compact MPV space to challenge the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It’s likely to underpin the Creta’s platform and share some of its design bits and powertrains with its 5-seater SUV sibling.
