Hyundai is readying 3 new SUVs for India

2020 Hyundai Creta Features India launch

Korean automaker, Hyundai had launched the Venue sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market earlier this year. The SUV has received overwhelming response from buyers with over 50,000 bookings in less than 2 months. The SUV is currently the best-selling SUV, beating the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta. In order to further strengthen its market position, the Korean brand is readying 3 all-new SUVs for the Indian market.

The next Hyundai SUV to be launched in our market is the next-generation Creta SUV, which has already been spotted multiple times on Indian roads. Hyundai will soon launch the new ix25 SUV in the Chinese market and the same is expected to arrive in our market as well. However, the India-spec model will have different styling elements. Similar to the Chinese ix25, the second generation Hyundai Creta could be offered in multiple interior options. The ix25 is offered with 2 different interior options – a Tesla inspired dashboard and the Kia Seltos like dashboard.

Hyundai could also opt for a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 118bhp.

The Korean brand is also working on a micro SUV, codenamed AX, which will be produced at the company’s Gwangju-based plant in South Korea. If reports are to be believed, the new mini SUV is also coming to India. In fact, the company could showcase the concept version of the micro SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The launch is expected in the second half of 2021. It is likely to be based on the Santro’s platform and could receive a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine.

Hyundai Mini SUV

The brand will soon launch the facelift version of the Tucson SUV. However, the next-generation Hyundai Tucson is also in the works. The new model is expected to make global debut in the end of this year or early next year. In India, Hyundai is considering the long wheelbase version of the Tucson with 7-seat configuration. The new model will be positioned against the Honda CR-V and the upcoming Jeep Compass based 7-seater SUV.
