Hyundai Nexo SUV Gets 5 Star Rating In Euro NCAP Crash Test

Hyundai Nexo, the first Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) from the South Korean carmaker, has scored a commendable five star rating in the recent crash test conducted by the Euro NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme). The India-bound SUV achieved 94 percent for adult occupant safety, 87 percent for child safety and 80 percent for safety assistance. It has scored a decent 67 percent for pedestrian safety.

The hydrogen-powered SUV impacts a rigid barrier in the frontal impact test. Though, its driver’s door impacted by a mobile deformable barrier in the side impact test. In an offset frontal impact test, its 40% width is striking a deformable barrier. Read – New Hyundai Santro Price List & Details

The model which was put through the crash test was loaded with Hyundai’ SmartSense active safety and driving assistance technologies, including Lane Following Assist, Highway Driving Assist, a Blind-spot View Monitor and Remote Smart Parking Assist. ead – New Generation Hyundai i20 Launch Details Revealed 

Commenting on the Nexo’s crash test results, Michiel Van Ratingen, secretary general of Euro NCAP, said, “This is a satisfying set of solid test results and we are pleased that cars continue to perform well in the AEB tests, including for pedestrians and cyclists. It is very welcome to see manufacturers rising to Euro NCAP’s challenge of effective vulnerable road user protection.”

Hyundai Nexo Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle was first previewed at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, 2018. The SUV made its India debut at the India-Korea Business Summit a month later. The company has confirmed that the Nexo SUV will also be launched in the Indian market. Though, its launch timeline is yet to be revealed by the carmaker.
