Hyundai Kona Electric SUV To Be Sold In 16 Cities In India

Hyundai Kona, the first electric vehicle from the South Korean carmaker, is ready to hit roads on coming 9th July. Initially, the electric SUV will be retailed in 16 cities across the nation including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru. Select Hyundai dealerships will provide a fast charger to the owners of Kona SUV for free. Using these charging stations, one can charge the battery up to 80% in just an hour.

The company will also offer an optional regular AC/wall box charging station that can be installed at home. It can fully charge the battery in around 10 hours. In India, Hyundai Kona is likely to be offered with the 39kWh battery pack that’s good for 136PS and 395Nm of torque. Its electric range will be around 300km. The SUV will be capable to accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 9.7 seconds. Globally, the company also offers a larger 64kWh battery pack that makes power worth 204PS and 395Nm of torque. Feature-wise, the Hyundai Kona is likely to be loaded with several advanced connectivity and comfort features. It might come with an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, BlueLink connected features, live services, heated and ventilated seats, real-time traffic updates and an 8-speaker KRELL audio system with a subwoofer. In India, the all-electric Hyundai Kona SUV will come via the CKD route and is estimated to be priced around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will face challenge from MG’s upcoming eZS electric SUV that’s scheduled to launch by the end of this year (December, 2019).
