Hyundai Kona Bags Over 300 Bookings; 150 Delivered So Far

Hyundai’s only electric vehicle – the Kona Electric SUV has received an excellent response from car buyers. The company has received over 300 orders for the Kona out of which, more than 150 have already been delivered to the customers. Hyundai Motor India Limited has also bagged orders for 10 Kona Electric from EESL (Energy Efficiency Service Limited). Out of these 10 orders, Hyundai has delivered 4 Kona EVs to EESL.

Launched in July 2019, the Hyundai Kona EV received overwhelming response from buyers. In fact, the new electric SUV has been sold out for 2019. In order to meet the rising demand, the Korean brand is planning to import extra units of Kona from its headquarters in Korea. The SUV arrives in India via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route.

Hyundai Kona Details

The Hyundai Kona Electric is powered by a 100kWh battery that produces 131bhp of power and a peak torque of 395Nm. It comes with 3 different driving modes – Eco, Comfort and Sport. The SUV is being offered with 2 different types of chargers – portable and the wall box charger. According to Hyundai, the running cost of Kona EV is lower than the petrol powered Creta.

The Hyundai Kona accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in just 9.7 seconds. The EV offers a certified driving range of 452km on a single charge. It also comes with a fast charging option, which charges the battery to 80% in one hour. The battery takes 7 to 8 hours to get fully charged.
