South Korean automaker, Hyundai has showcased the production version of the ix25 compact SUV at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show, China. Unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show as a pre-production concept, the compact SUV will make its way to the Indian car market by the mid-2015. The ix25 compact SUV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. It will rival against the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Ford EcoSport.

The Hyundai ix25 compact SUV is based on the company’s modern fluidic design philosophy, which is also seen on Elite i20 and Santa Fe. The front fascia of the SUV sports triple-slat chrome grille that is flanked by projector headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and silver inserts. Its aggressive bumper features a large air intakes and new LED fog lamps. This compact SUV is not a sub-4 metre SUV, measuring 4270mm in length, 1780mm in width and 1630mm in height. It comes with a large wheelbase of 2590mm, which contributes to its spacious cabin.

The Chinese-spec Hyundai ix25 compact SUV is offered in two petrol engine options- 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre unit. The Indian-spec model is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options, and will be shared with Verna sedan. While the petrol version is likely to get 1.4-litre VTVT unit, the oil burner is the 1.6-litre CRDi unit.
