We reported earlier that Hyundai will launch the ix25 compact SUV in China on 9th of October, 2014. The interiors and other details of the SUV have recently been leaked and now, the Chinese media has revealed the variants, prices and engine options of the ix25. [Hyundai ix25 interior pictures]
If media reports to believe, the Hyundai ix25 SUV will come in seven variants and two petrol engine options. The base model will get a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine while the top spec models would feature a 2.0-litre unit. Its base spec 1.6-litre variant will come with a six-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
Three out of seven variants will sport AWD technology. The top two variants of the 1.6-litre and the higher spec 2.0-litre would be offered with a 4WD system. All 4WD variants will be fitted to an automatic transmission gearbox as standard.
According to Chinese media, the Hyundai ix25 prices will start from 129,800 CNY (Rs. 12.56 lakh) for the entry level 1.6-litre 2WD manual, while the top spec 2.0-litre AWD automatic variant costs 189,800 CNY (Rs. 18.36 lakhs)
The Hyundai ix25 is expected to come in India next year and will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. The compact SUV will directly compete against the likes of Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and the Nissan Terrano.
