We reported earlier that Hyundai will launch the ix25 compact SUV by the festive season, 2015. According to LiveMint report, the compact SUV will go on sale in August-September, ahead of the festive season.
Codenamed ‘Hyundai GS’, the ix25 SUV is likely to get new branding in India. The company has invested around Rs. 1,000 crore into the project and is aiming at 90 per cent localisation to keep it price competitive. The compact SUV will be manufactured at the company’s production unit in Chennai.
Based on Hyundai’s evolved Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, the ix25 compact SUV is not a sub-4 metre car. It measures 4,270mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,630mm in height, and comes with a large wheelbase of 2,590mm. It is expected that the SUV will share the components with Hyundai Elite i20 hatchback and the Verna saloon.
The Hyundai ix25 SUV will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options, which are likely to be borrowed from the Verna sedan. Like the Verna, the SUV is likely to come in two petrol and two diesel fuel options- 1.4-litre/1.6-litre petrol & 1.4-litre CRDi/ 1.6-litre CRDi diesel. Both front wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions are likely to go on sale.
