Since its launch in August 2014, the current-generation Hyundai Elite i20 has achieved a cumulative sales mark of 500,000 units in June, 2018. The company sold 11,262 units of the hatchback last month. The vehicle’s current generation model registered a total sales of 4,91,428 units by the end of May, 2018. The hatchback has a monthly sales average of over 10,000 units. One must note that the sales figures are inclusive of the Hyundai i20 Active crossover.
With this achievement, the Hyundai Elite i20 took a lead over its arch rival – Maruti Suzuki Baleno that crossed the 4 lakh sales make in June, 2018. In fiscal year 2016, the i20 recorded a total sales of 1,27,962 units as against the 77,947 units of FY2015. The numbers grew in FY2017 and FY2018 to 1,26,304 units and 1,36,182 units respectively.

The South Korean carmaker introduced the updated version of the Elite i20 at the Delhi Auto Expo in February, 2018. The facelifted model witnessed comprehensive design and feature upgrades along with a new Flame Orange colour scheme. In May, 2018, the company added a CVT gearbox to the carline.
The updated i20 comes with the 82bhp, 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox and an 89bhp, 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel motor with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A more power 99bhp, 1.4-litre dual VTVT petrol engine with a 4-speed automatic torque converter is also on offer. Major highlights of the new Hyundai Elite i20 are new LED DRLs, revised headlamps, new black cascading grille, revised bumpers, new arrowhead fog lamps, new sculpted hatch door and new infotainment system with a larger touchscreen panel featuring inbuilt navigation Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
