Hyundai will launch the new i20 Active crossover in the country on 17th March 2015. The exterior and interior pictures of the i20 based cross have been revealed. It is basically the “cross” version of the highly rated Elite i20 hatch.
The pictures reveal that the Hyundai i20 Active comes with an all-new interiors, compared to the Elite i20. The overall layout remains unchanged; however, the car gets an all-black dashboard. There is orange finish on the air conditioning vents rim, gear knob and on switch gears of FM/AM and music player. Also visible is the orange stitching on seats.
The exteriors of the crossover is finished in orange or Mars Red shade. The i20 Active features new front grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, revised front and rear bumpers, circular fog lights in the front, etc. At the back, the bumper had circular reflectors, chrome inserts and new skid plate. There is extra plastic cladding to offer sporty touch to it. The SUV comes with a large ground clearance of 190mm, which is around 20mm more than the standard variant. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to newly developed 16-inch alloy wheels.
The Hyundai i20 Active crossover shares its engine lineup with the Elite i20 hatchback. While the oil burner is the 1.4-litre U2 CRDI unit producing 90PS and 220Nm, the petrol unit is the 1.2-litre motor that is good for 83PS and 114Nm. The petrol engine is paired to five-speed gearbox and delivers 17.19kmpl of mileage, while the diesel engine is paired to a six-speed gearbox and delivers 21.19kmpl.
