In the company’s product lineup, the Hyundai HDC-2 Grandmaster will sit above the Santa Fe 7-seater SUV.

The South Korean carmaker has pulled the wraps off the all-new Hyundai HDC-2 Grandmaster concept at the 2018 Busan International Motor Show. The concept previews the bigger SUV featuring the brand’s “more detailed blueprint” for its new ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language. Hyundai’s new design philosophy first broke cover with the HDC-1 Le Fil Rouge sedan concept at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 2018.

In Hyundai’s product lineup, the new three-row SUV will sit above the Santa Fe 7-seater SUV. It could be the spiritual successor of the Veracruz mid-size crossover. Rumor has it that the production version of the Hyundai HDC-2 Grandmaster concept could be christened Palisade. As of now, the carmaker has no plan to bring this new SUV to the Indian market.

The Hyundai Grandmaster concept is designed through harmonization of four fundamental elements – styling, architecture, proportion and technology. These attributes are said to bring ‘emotional value and desirability’ to the vehicle. Interestingly, the name of the concept has been derived from the chess game. Check Out – Upcoming Hyundai Cars in India

Based on the new ‘Light Architecture’, the Hyundai Grandmaster is likely to share most of its components with the production-ready Kia Telluride. Upfront, the concept features hockey stick-style chrome line and grille and multi-part headlamps. A prototype of the SUV was spotted testing in April, 2018.
