Hyundai Achieves Fastest 8 Million Production Milestone In India

The 8 millionth car produced by the South Korean carmaker is the new Hyundai Creta compact SUV.

Hyundai Motor India today announced that it has achieved a new production milestone by rolling out of 8 million cars from its Chennai based facility in Tamil Nadu. This is the fastest 8 million production mark achieved by any manufacturer in the country. The South Korean carmaker took 19 years and 6 months for achieving this milestone. The 8 millionth car produced by the South Korean carmaker is the new Hyundai Creta compact SUV.

Since its inception in 1998, the automaker sold a total of 5,300,967 units in the domestic market and exported 2,703,581 units. This year Hyundai is commemorating its 20 successful years in the Indian market. Now, the company aims to achieve 10 million production mark in 2021. Hyundai Santro was the first offering from the South Korean carmaker in India. Launched in 1998, the hatchback recorded sales over 53 lakh units in the domestic market along with export over 27 lakh units. Hyundai claims that it’s the largest passenger car exporter in the Indian market. Currently, the carmaker exports to over 88 countries across Latin America, Africa, Asia Pacific and Middle East.
