Hyundai has been testing the 7-seater version of the Creta SUV in South Korea, which suggests that the new model could arrive before the end of 2020 or early 2021. The new model will ride on slightly longer wheelbase and will be offered with 6 and 7-seat options. The SUV will have captain seats for the second row in the six seat version, while the 7-seater will get bench-type seats.

The 7-seater Creta will challenge the likes of the next-gen Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus and the Tata Gravitas. The new model is based on the modified version of the K2 platform, which also underpins the Kia Seltos, and the Verna. The platform is compatible enough to accommodate a 7-seater SUV.

The Korean giant is also working on all-new 7-seater compact SUV, which has been spotted testing for the first time in South Korea. This model is most likely to arrive in our market in 2021. The new MPV will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Mahindra Marazzo.

The new MPV will also be designed and developed on the K2 platform. It will also share the engine options with the Creta; though turbocharged petrol engine won’t be on offer. It will be offered with 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. While the former is good for 113bhp and 144Nm of torque, the turbo-diesel engine produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.
