Hyundai Casper (Tata HBX Fighter) – 5 Key Things We Know So Far

The South Korean carmaker is working on a micro SUV that’s codenamed – Hyundai AX1. The model, which is currently in its testing phase, will enter into production in the coming months. It will be first launched in Korea, followed by other emerging markets including India. Here’re 5 key things we know so far about the upcoming Hyundai Casper mini SUV.

1. Official Name

Recently, Hyundai trademarked the Casper nameplate in Korea that’s reported to be used for the upcoming mini SUV – AX1. In India, the production-ready model might carry a different name. The micro SUV is likely to make its global debut in September 2021 and its India launch might happen sometime next year.

2. Smallest Hyundai SUV

The Hyundai Casper (AX1) will be the smallest Hyundai SUV in the country. While its official dimension figures are yet to be revealed, the mini SUV is reported to measure 3595mm in length, 1595mm in width and 1575mm in height. If it happens, the Casper will be shorter and narrower than the Santro. The latter one is 3610mm long and 1645mm wide.

3. Boxy Stance

The new Hyundai mini SUV will carry upright and boxy stance that will make it taller than the Santro hatchback. The final model will have rounded off edges similar to the spied test mules. Some of its key design elements will include circular LED headlamps with split setup, bumper integrated DRLs and triangular LED taillamps as we have seen on the newly-launched Alcazar three-row SUV.

The lower variants of the Hyundai AX1 might be offered with the 1.1L, 3-cylinder petrol engine that does duty in the Santro hatchback. In select markets, the micro SUV could also be provided with the Venue’s 1.0L turbo petrol motor. Read – Top 3 Upcoming Hyundai Cars Listed
