We reported earlier that Hyundai will launch a compact SUV in the Indian car market next year. The vehicle is speculated to be the ix25 SUV, which has been spotted several times during its test rounds. Set to make its debut at Beijing Motor Show, this SUV will compete against the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and others. CarAdvice reader managed to take the single interior shot of the SUV, which provides a clear look at the central hoard. Its central console features basic audio controls up high, while the lower section has climate functions. The spotted vehicle looks like an entry-level ix25 variant, which sports simple music system, manual gearbox and fabric upholstery on seats. The top spec models are expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment system, automatic transmission gearbox and leather upholstery.
The central console also sports vertically positioned air vents on the either side of the audio system. It features a leather wrapped steering wheel with phone, audio and cruise control functions. The spotted vehicle is powered by a petrol engine. It is expected that Hyundai ix25 will be made available with two 4-cylinder petrol engines, including a 1.6-litre and a more powerful 2.0-litre unit. It may also come with an all-wheel drive option.
The new Hyundai ix25 takes its design inspiration from the larger Santa Fe and the Intrado concept that unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle features black grille bars and distinctive 5-spoke alloy wheels. The ix25 is based on the new-generation Hyundai i20 hatchback, which is schedule to make its debut at 2014 Paris Motor Show.
It is quite early to comment whether it will make its debut in the Indian car market or not. The ix25 is not a sub-4 metre SUV, as it will cost high. We believe the company might launch the Grand i10 platform based compact SUV in the Indian car market.
