7. Honda Kona Electric
The South Korean automaker had unveiled the new Hyundai Kona Electric SUV at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle will be globally launched at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March. With this SUV, the Korean giant is aiming to achieve a range of around 384km. The Kona electric will be part of the company’s plan of launching 30 new models globally by 2020. Though, the global launch will take place in March 2018, Hyundai could showcase the concept model at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Hyundai India is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of this electric SUV.
The Kona electric follows Hyundai’s signature fluidic design philosophy, and features two-tier LED headlamps, LED DRLs and ‘Cascading’ front grille. Wrapped in dual-tone shade, the 5-seater premium SUV will get muscular fenders with thick black plastic cladding, diamond cut five-spoke alloy wheels and wraparound LED tail-lamps with segregate unit of lights for reverse, foggy conditions and turn indication.
In terms of proportions, the Kona EV is 4,165mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,550mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,600mm. The SUV comes with a ground clearance of 170mm, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions. The global model cabin is sourced from the i30 hatchback, featuring a 5-seat layout.
