4. Hyundai Ioniq
The South Korean carmaker will also enter into ultra-luxury sedan space. The Hyundai Ioniq hybrid sedan will share floor with other Hyundai cars at Auto Expo 2018 in Delhi. Despite increase in tax structure post GST, Hyundai is expected to continue with its plans of introducing hybrid cars in India. Interestingly, it will be Hyundai’s first hybrid car in India. Design inspiration for this premium car comes from Hyundai’s latest Fluidic design philosophy, which we have already seen on several new-age Hyundai cars in India. On the outside, the sedan features cascading hexagonal grille, vertically C-shaped LED daytime running lamps and 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
The cabin will have all-black dashboard with several controls for hassle-free operations. This model is equipped with features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wireless charging of smartphones, 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, etc. In terms of proportions, the new Ioniq sedan is 4,470mm, 1,821mm and 1,450mm in length, width and height, respectively. It comes with a wheelbase of 2,700mm, which ensures spacious cabin. The electric sedan has a boot space of 350-litres, which can be further extended by up to 1,410-litres by folding rear seats.
Powering this plug-in hybrid sedan is a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder Kappa petrol engine coupled to an 8.9kWh lithium-ion battery. The hybrid powertrain offers a combined power output of 165bhp.
