The Hyundai Styx compact SUV will debut on April 17, 2019.

The highly competitive sub-4 meter SUV space will soon welcome the entry of Hyundai’s much-awaited SUV – codenamed QXi. This SUV was first previewed as the Carlino concept at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Likely to be called Hyundai Styx, the new sub-4 meter SUV will make international debut at the 2019 New York Motor Show on April 17. It will be Hyundai’s smallest SUV globally and will first go on sale in India around May-June 2019.

The Hyundai Styx sub-4 meter SUV will directly rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV300. This segment is currently dominated by the Maruti Vitara Brezza, which is doing a constant sales of over 13,000 units per month. The Korean automaker has released a new teaser video of the sub-4 meter SUV, which reveals some of the important details.

The new Hyundai compact SUV will be built on the new Santro’s platform, which will also underpin the new-gen Grand i10. To be positioned below the Creta, the new model will be equipped with several segment-leading features. It is confirmed that the new sub-4 meter SUV will come equipped with projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and LED tail-lights. Other design highlights include signature hexagonal grille, big bumper and two-tier headlamp set-up. The SUV will also come with a dual-tone exterior paint schemes and blackened pillars.

The top-spec Hyundai Styx will also receive the electric sunroof option, which is clearly visible in the teaser video. The new model is most likely to offer the most advanced interior in its category. It will be equipped with 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Moreover, it will receive the segment-first ventilated front seats. Adding to it, soft touch materials, steering mounted controls, automatic air-conditioning, electrically adjustable & foldable wing mirrors, start-stop button, etc will also be on offer. In terms of safety and security, the small SUV gets up to 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, hill hold assist and hill descent assist.

The Hyundai Styx will be available in 3 engine options – a 99bhp, 1.4-litre, a 89bhp 1.4-litre diesel and a 100bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic unit (1.0L turbo petrol only). The small SUV will be positioned between i20 and the Creta and is expected to be priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 12 lakh.
