Hyundai AX1 Small SUV Digitally Imagined In Different Colours

It is no secret that Hyundai will soon introduce a new micro SUV, internally called AX1, in the global markets. The small SUV will also make its way to our market in 2022, and will rival the Tata HBX and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. The upcoming Hyundai AX1 small SUV has been digitally imagined in different colours.

The rendered images are based on the spy shots. The small SUV will first go on sale in South Korea in the end of this year. Korean media reports that the SUV could be unveiled in June or July 2021. In fact, Hyundai has released a couple of teaser images of the new AX1 SUV.

Similar to the teaser images, the Hyundai AX1 renderings get round-shaped headlamps with O-ring LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). Below the clamshell bonnet structure, the SUV houses thin LED strips which will also work as turn indicators.

The new Hyundai AX1 will look like a baby Venue, featuring compact and boxy design. The render has tall pillars and rectangular wing mirrors. The vehicle looks more like a tall-boy hatchback, and will be positioned below the Grand i10 Nios in Hyundai line-up. The vehicle gets squared wheel arches with black cladding to give a tough look.

The rear door handles are integrated into the C-pillars. The top-end vehicle will get multi-spoke alloys, which we have already seen on spy images. The SUV gets raked windscreen, and uniquely styled grille with triangular pattern. The teaser also shows the tail-lamp that has multiple triangular arrangements, which are likely to be LED modules. The vehicle has been caught testing numerous times, which reveals that the new SUV will get split light system at the rear as well. The secondary light is placed in the bumper that is likely to house the reverse light and indicators.

The small SUV get a roof-integrated spoiler with auxiliary brake light function. The reversing lights and turn indicators are designed to look like a single round lamp, and are placed at the bottom of the rear bumper.

The Hyundai AX1 is likely to be based on the new K1 platform that underpins the Grand i10 Nios. It is expected to be powered by a 1.1-litre engine producing 68bhp and 96Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT. The company could also add 82bhp, 1.2-litre petrol engine, which currently powers the Grand i10 Nios. In India, the small SUV will rival the upcoming Tata HBX based micro SUV and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
