Hyundai Alcazar To Soon Get An Affordable Executive Base Variant

In order to improve sales, Hyundai is preparing to give updates to its existing SUV line-up. Adding to it, the brand will introduce a couple of new models in the country in the next 1 year. Hyundai will also launch a new base ‘Executive’ variant of the Alcazar SUV to improve its sales. The Hyundai Alcazar is currently available in 3 trim levels – Prestige, Platinum and Signature – priced between Rs 16.44 lakh and Rs 20.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

In the mid-sized SUV category, the Hyundai Alcazar is currently the 3rd best-selling model. With new affordable variant, Hyundai will aim to further increase its sales in the competitive segment. The Alcazar directly rivals the likes of the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Harrier and the MG Hector.

The new Hyundai Alcazar Executive trim will be offered in petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel version will come with manual as well as automatic gearbox options. The Alcazar is offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel.

The 2.0L gasoline motor is capable of producing 159PS and 191Nm of torque, while the 1.5L diesel engine churns out 115PS and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The manual versions of the petrol and diesel engines are claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 14.5kmpl and 20.4kmpl respectively.

Hyundai Alcazar Interior

The base variants of the XUV700 and Harrier are priced lower than the Alcazar. With new Executive variant, Hyundai aims to reduce the price gap between the Alcazar and its rival SUVs. In order to achieve competitive pricing, Hyundai is likely to remove some of the features of the SUV. It is likely to miss out on the dual-tone colour options, side foot step and puddle lamps. The company is also likely to remove shark fin antenna, roof rails and rear spoiler.

Inside the cabin, the new Alcazar could get new fabric upholstery instead of the cognac brown and black leather upholstery. The SUV could also miss out on ventilated seats, air purifier, Bose premium sound system and electric parking brake with auto hold.
