Hyundai Alcazar To Come With 2 Engines – 2.0L Petrol, 1.5L Diesel

Hyundai has released a new teaser video of the new Alcazar 3-row SUV, which is scheduled to make global debut in India tomorrow. The new model is basically a 7-seater version of the Creta SUV. Set to be launched in the coming days, the new Hyundai Alcazar will rival the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV500.

New Petrol Engine

A new media report claims that the new Hyundai Alcazar 3-row SUV won’t share petrol engine options with the Creta. It will receive a new 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that also powers the Elantra sedan and the Tucson in India. This engine produces 152bhp of power and 192Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The same engine will also power the Creta SUV in select international markets.

Updated Diesel Engine

The diesel version of the SUV will receive the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that also powers the Creta SUV. However, the engine will be tuned for the heavier 3-row Alcazar SUV. The engine will offer better power delivery. While powering the Creta, this engine produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. Gearbox options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

6-and 7-seat Options

The new Hyundai Alcazar SUV will be offered in 6-and 7-seat layouts. The 6-seater SUV will receive captain seats for the second row, while the 7-seater will get bench-type seat with 60:40 split function. The 6-seater version’s second row seats will come with a tumble-down feature.

Exterior & Interior

The new Hyundai Alcazar front profile looks similar to the Creta, but it gets a new chrome studded grille and revised front bumper. Adding to it, the SUV also gets front parking sensors. The SUV’s length and wheelbase have been increased to accommodate third row of seats. It gets a flatter profile instead of the rounded design of Creta. The SUV has an extended rear overhangs, conventional split LED tail-lamps, new tailgate, more prominent roof rails, shark fin antenna and blacked-out pillars.

It gets dark brown scheme instead of beige shade in the Creta. It also gets slightly revised central tunnel, new colour for seats and uniquely styled floor-mounted central armrest with cup holders. The second row occupants also get wireless charging pad.  The third row seats come with integrated headrests and cup holders. AC vents are also offered for the third row.

The new Hyundai Alcazar is likely to come with high-end features such as 360 degree camera, auto dimming IRVMs, connected car tech, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, automatic AC, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, etc. Previous reports suggest that the new Alcazar could also receive ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance System), which includes autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane change assist, etc.
