Japanese two-wheeler automaker, Honda seems aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company has recently launched a wide range of new quarter-litre motorcycles including the new CB350, CB350RS, CB300X and the CB00R. Interestingly, the company is also planning to enter the fast-growing adventure motorcycle segment with its global Honda XRE 300 dual-sport motorcycle. In fact, the motorcycle has been spotted testing on the Indian roads.

The Honda XRE 300 Adventure motorcycle is currently on sale in select international markets including Brazil. The Brazilian-spec Honda XRE 300 is propelled by a 291.6cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that is a flex-fuel motor, which allows it to run on petrol as well as ethanol. This engine produces 25.4bhp at 7,500rpm and 27.6Nm at 6,000 when run on petrol. While running on ethanol, the 291.6cc engine produces 25.6bhp at 7,500rpm and 28Nm at 6,000rpm. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox.

The popular Honda XRE 300 runs 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke rims. The motorcycle has a massive 259mm of ground clearance and has a seat height of 860mm, which is even taller than the KTM 390 Adventure. The motorcycle has a dry weight of 148kgs, which makes it significantly lighter than its competitors. For suspension mechanism, the motorcycle gets telescopic front fork with 245mm travel and a monoshock unit at the rear with 225mm travel.

The adventure bike gets 256mm front disc and 220mm rear disc for braking duties along with ABS as standard. The motorcycle comes with full LED lighting system and simple LCD digital display. It also comes with a luggage rack as a standard fitment. The motorcycle’s fuel tank capacity stands at 13.8-litres.

The Brazilian-spec Honda XRE 300 motorcycle is priced somewhere around Rs 3.7 lakh, which makes it significantly costlier for the Indian market. The company has already patented the XRE 300 moniker in India, which suggests that the motorcycle could be launched in our market. It will rival the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G 310 GS, Royal Enfield Himalayan and Yezdi Adventure.
