Honda XR-V compact SUV launched in China; priced at Rs. 12.9 lakh

Honda XR-V Crossover headlamps and fog lamps

Japanese carmaker, Honda has launched the XR-V compact SUV in the Chinese market. The base variant of the XRV is tagged at 127,800 yuan (INR 12.9 Lakhs), while the top-spec model is priced at 162,800 yuan (INR 16.44 lakh). It will rival against the likes of Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and others in its league.

The Honda XR-V SUV is basically a cheaper and tweaked version of the highly rated Vezel crossover aka HR-V in Europe and USA. Talking about changes, the XR-V compact SUV features a newly formulated front grille that is complemented by new headlights. The restyled bumper features wide air intakes, fog lamps and enclosures for indicator. The rear profile of the compact SUV is equipped with LED tail lamps that extend across the length of the rear and new tailgate.

This model is also shorter in length compared to the Vezel crossover, which also makes us believe that this product could make its way to Indian market. The XR-V measures 4,270mm in length (24mm shorter than vezel), 1,772mm wide and 1605mm height, and it has a large wheelbase of 2,610mm. Inside the cabin, the vehicle has plain plastic components and looks cheaper compared to the Vezel crossover. It lacks premium equipments such as floating center tunnel, leather trims for dashboard and leather seat upholstery.

The Honda XR-V compact SUV is offered in two petrol engine options including a 1.5-litre and 1.8-litre petrol unit. A five-speed manual transmission and CVT gearbox will be on offer.
