Honda Vezel SUV

Honda Vezel officially made its debut at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show and is currently on sale in Japan. The vehicle will also be launched in European markets with a new name- the Honda HR-V. It was speculated to be launched in India; however, the company is now aiming to launch a small SUV based on the Brio platform. Now, the Honda Vezel will be unveiled at the 2014 Indonesia International Motor Show in September. Interestingly, the Indonesia model will be named as Honda HR-V in spite of Vezel.

Speaking to media, Mr. Jonfis Fandy, Marketing and After Sales Service Director HPM, in Jakarta said, “For your information, we will launch the inaugural HR-V at IIMS 2014, Sept. 18. This is from our CUV models, which completes the line-up of Honda products in Indonesia”.

The Honda Vezel is based on the 2014 Jazz platform, and has already been unveiled at the New York and Beijing Motor Shows. Built on the “Dynamic Cross Solid” concept, the Vezel SUV has unique and sharp creases running across that offer SUV-like wide lower body and coupe like upper body. The rear outer door handles are integrated into the window graphics, which makes it, look like a 2-door coupe.

Honda HR-V in Indonesia is likely to be offered in two engine options- a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 131PS and 155Nm of top torque and a hybrid engine coupled with a 1.5-litre unit and an electric motor, developing 132PS. Both the engines will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
