Honda To Launch Hyundai Creta, Maruti Brezza Rivals – Launch Timeline

Honda Cars India is planning to expand its SUV product portfolio in the next couple of years. The Japanese automaker aims to tap the two highly-competitive segments – sub-4 metre SUV and mid-size SUV. Honda’s new subcompact SUV (codenamed 3US) is reported to arrive in mid 2023, while the new mid-size SUV (codenamed 3RA) might hit roads in early 2024.

Interestingly, both new Honda SUVs will be designed on the updated version of Amaze’s platform. The architecture is internally known as PF2 and PF2S and the latter one will be used for the new Honda mid-size SUV. It will be similar to the fifth-generation City sedan.

Talking about the new Honda subcompact SUV, the model will face challenge from multiple cars including Maruti Brezza (which will enter into its new-generation in June), Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. The engineering work for the new SUV is currently under process.

Some of its design elements could be borrowed from the new-generation Honda BR-V concept. According to a fresh media report, the new Honda SUV could be offered with the brand’s in-house 1.5L diesel and the Amaze-sourced 1.2L petrol engine. The petrol motor could be benefited with hybrid technology. The company believes it will retail around 6,200 SUVs on monthly basis.

Honda Compact SUV

The upcoming new Honda mid-size SUV will have Honda’s new e-Architecture and measure around 4.3 metre in length. Its screen system and powertrain are reported to be sourced from the new City, City diesel and City hybrid.

The report further states that the Japanese carmaker is evaluating 6 and 7-seater variants of its upcoming compact SUV. The mid-size SUV from Honda will take on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Its design and styling could be inspired by the RS concept SUV that broke cover in Indonesia.
