Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) recently rolled out its new 100cc Shine motorcycle to challenge dominance of the Hero Splendor Plus. Let’s see how both bikes fare on paper against each other in terms of price, engine specifications, mileage and features.
Honda Shine 100 Vs Hero Splendor Plus – Price
Honda’s new 100cc bike is being offered in a single variant that comes at an introductory price of Rs 64,900. Its arch rival – Hero Splendor Plus is available in multiple variants and its prices start at Rs 72,420. Its Splendor Xtec variant, which is packed with Bluetooth connectivity, side stand engine cut off and a digital speedometer, costs Rs 75,840. That means, the Shine 100 is around Rs 7,500 more affordable than the Splendor. Its deliveries will begin in May 2023.
Honda Shine 100 Vs Hero Splendor Plus – Specs
Honda’s new Shine 100cc sources its power from a 100cc, single-cylinder engine that’s good enough for 7.6PS and 8.05Nm. The motor has piston-cooling oil jet and offset piston along with a start solenoid with automatic choke system. The bike underpins a diamond frame and comes with the telescopic fork upfront and twin shock absorbers suspension at the rear. It has drum brakes at the front and rear axles along with the combined braking system.
The Hero Splendor Plus, on the other hand, comes equipped with a 97.2cc fuel injected engine pushing out a peak power of 7.9bhp and 8.05Nm of torque. It has a 4-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are done by the telescopic fork and monoshock units fitted at the front and rear axles respectively. The bike has front and rear drum brakes.
Honda Shine 100 Vs Hero Splendor Plus – Mileage
Honda hasn’t revealed mileage figures of the Shine 100. Though, it claims to deliver “best-in-class” fuel efficiency.
Hero Splendor Plus offers a mileage between 65kmpl – 80.6kmpl.
Honda Shine 100 Vs Hero Splendor Plus – Dimensions
The Honda Shine 100cc sits on 1245mm long wheelbase and offers a seat height of 786mm. It has a ground clearance of 168mm. It’s fuel tank capacity stands at 9-litres. The bike carries a kerb weight of 99kg.
The wheelbase, seat height and ground clearance of the Splendor Plus are slightly lesser than the Shine 100. The bike has a wheelbase of 1236mm, seat height of 785mm and ground clearance of 165mm. Though, its fuel tank is slightly bigger at 9.8-lites. Compared to the new Honda 100cc bike, the Hero Splendor Plus is heavier with a kerb weight of 112kg.

Honda’s new 100cc bike has been equipped with a halogen headlamp, a self starter, all-black alloy wheels, a side stand engine cut off, a dual pod instrument cluster and combined braking system.
The Hero Splendor Plus has more features on offer than the Shine 100. The bike comes with the switchable i3S technology, an engine cut off sensor, a USB charger, 18-inch alloy wheels and a side stand indicator.
