Japanese two-wheeler maker, Honda had showcased the PCX 150cc scooter in India at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The scooter was planned to launch in India as a flagship scooter in Honda India’s lineup; that didn’t happen. In fact, Honda has now showcased an electric version of the PCX scooter at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The Honda PCX Electric scooter is equipped with a high-output motor developed independently by Honda. It also gets Honda Mobile power pack, which is detachable mobile battery pack. This scooter will be launched in Asia region in 2018.
The PCX electric is development for urban audience and is claimed to offer comfort and convenience to buyers. This electric scooter comes with a pair of batteries under the seat, which can be removed in no-time and replaced by fully-charged ones. This battery swapping system is also available with Gogoro Smart Scooter, which is currently on sale in Taiwan. This scooter has received an excellent response from buyers across Taiwan and has had huge success. For people not in the known, Vespa is also working on similar thing and will soon launch one electric scooter with swappable battery system.
Honda PCX electric scooter is 1,923mm in length, 745mm in width and 1,107mm in height. The dimensions clearly suggest that the scooter has wide and long seats to offer excellent comfort for rider as well as pillion. Honda PCX Electric India Launch
The company has officially unveiled the electric PCX scooter at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The vehicle will go on sale in the Asian markets including Japan this year. Honda PCX Electric Price India
The PCX electric will be a premium scooter to target the urban buyers. While the batteries and electric motors are expected to be imported, the scooter will be assembled at the company’s plant in India. We believe that this premium electric scooter will cost around Rs 1 lakh.
