Honda Off-Road SUVs To Carry Trailsport Surname

Japanese automaker, Honda is aiming to further improve its sales by introducing multiple SUVs globally. The company is also taking several innovative steps in its current range to gain from the growing popularity of sports utility vehicles. In the US, Honda has registered the Trailsport name.

If media reports are to be believed, the Honda will use the Trailsport as a surname for specific versions developed for off-road use. The new name was registered with the official patent agencies for application in “automobiles and automobile structural parts”. It is rumoured that the new Trailsport will become official brand name for SUVs aimed at off-road lovers.

Honda Passport SUV

It is expected that the off-road version of the Honda Passport SUV will come with the Trailsport Insignia. This SUV is positioned right between the CR-V and the Pilot. The previous generation Passport was based on the ladder-on-frame chassis, which is sourced from Isuzu Rodeo. The new-gen model is based on the monoblock structure, but it features right suspension set-up, tires and traction for off-road usage.

Few reports claim that Honda is readying the Ridgeline pickup, which shares the monoblock platform with the Passport. The pickup could carry the Trailsport badge. It will have stronger platform, higher ground clearance, specific tires and differently styled bumper with angles optimized for off-road use.
