Honda N7X 7-Seater Crossover Real World Images & Details

Japanese automaker, Honda has unveiled the new N7X 7-seater Concept SUV in Indonesia. The new crossover was unveiled in near production avatar, and is expected to be introduced as a replacement for the Honda BR-V SUV. The N7X is the abbreviation of ‘New 7 Seater eXcitement’.

Honda claims that the N7X concept combines the best of SUV and MPV body styles to create a complete seven-seater suitable for all type of road conditions. The new N7X concept was designed and developed white taking into account consumers in various markets including Indonesia.

Exterior & Interior

The Honda N7X features an SUV-ish profile, as it comes with raised bonnet and thick chrome bar on the signature front grille. It gets LED headlamps on either side of the prominent grille, which give it a muscular appeal. The grille has a three-slat horizontal grille and twin LED setup.

The headlamp design is also inspired by the new City sedan. A large prominent Honda badge is placed at the centre of the grille. There is a dual-LED DRLs setup, with one LED DRL placed above the headlamp and the other placed lower on the bumper. The lower bumper has wide air-dam, a faux skid plate and brushed aluminium inserts.

The side profile of the new Honda N7X Concept comes with a large glasshouse and a strong beltline that runs above the glass area. There is a strong beltline that runs across the length, starting from the headlamp and merges into the taillamps. The SUV gets round wheel arches with black plastic cladding on the borders, which give it a tough look. The rear also gets SUV-ish design elements with features like split LED tail-lamps with a graphic design similar to the one offered in the City sedan.

The company hasn’t revealed the interior of the N7X concept, but is likely to share the dashboard layout and features with the new City sedan. The cabin will be designed with Honda’s Man Maximum Machine Minimum philosophy, as it is expected to offer a minimalist dashboard with a central touchscreen. The SUV will be offered in 6- and 7-seat layouts. While the former will have captain seats for the second row, the 7-seater SUV will get bench-type seat for the second row.

In terms of features, the SUV is expected to get a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, multi-functional steering wheel, digital instrument console, automatic AC, powered ORVMs, rear AC vents, etc.

What’s Under The Hood?

The company hasn’t revealed the engine specifications of the new Honda N7X Concept. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the City sedan. This engine produces 121bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed CVT automatic.

The new Honda N7X concept based SUV could also receive a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the City RS in select markets. This engine is capable of producing 121bhp and 175Nm of torque.

India Launch & Competition

The new Honda N7X based 7-seater SUV is expected to replace the Honda BR-V in Indonesia. It will be positioned against the likes of the Toyota Rush and Mitsubishi Xpander Cross. Honda is yet to introduce a new SUV in our market, as it already discontinued the CR-V and the BR-V from our market. The new model is based on the City sedan, which should help Honda to achieve better localisation levels. The new model could be right product for our market, as it will be positioned in the fast growing 7-seater SUV segment. In India, it will rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and others in its category.
