On the contrary to earlier reports claiming that the new Jazz facelift will hit Indian roads this year, a fresh report says it won’t make its way here. Instead, Honda Cars India will focus on its two highly-popular products – the WR-V subcompact SUV and the new-generation Amaze sedan. The latter one made its public debut at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, and is ready to go on sale in coming months.
Besides these two models, the Japanese carmaker will introduce the new-generation City sedan by 2020. Production of the sedan’s next-gen model will take place at Honda’s Greater Noida based facility instead of the Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
Honda brought back the Jazz premium hatchback in India in 2015. The previous version of the hatch failed to create buzz among buyers due to its unreasonable pricing. With an all-new design and a diesel powertrain, the new-generation model takes on the Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Suzuki Baleno. However, the sales of the Jazz are declining gradually.
Currently, the Jazz hatchback comes with two engine options – a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual and a CVT. Available in five grades – E, S, SV, V and VX – the hatchback is priced between Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Read – Upcoming Honda Cars In India
