Honda Is Testing Jazz Electric In India

The recent sighting beg us a question, will Honda add the Jazz EV to its Indian product portfolio.

Honda had announced its plan to introduce an electric vehicle in India by 2023-2024. The company’s first electric vehicle for India will be part of its global electric rollout plan that will start with China. It could be a B-segment vehicle, which is currently under development process. Besides this, the Japanese carmaker is also working on the electric version of the Jazz hatchback.

The Honda Jazz electric was recently caught testing in the country for R&D purpose. The recent sighting beg us a question, will Honda add the Jazz EV to its Indian product portfolio. While the test mule was based on the hatchback’s previous generation model (2015), reports suggest that the new-generation Jazz will get the electric powertrain. In terms of design and styling, the Honda Jazz EV looks similar to the Honda Fit EV. Featuring vertically stacked, smaller wraparound LED taillamps, a beefier bumper and a larger spoiler, the electric version looks different from the regular model. For power, the Honda Jazz EV will use a new electric motor delivering a range of 300kms in a single charge. The Japanese carmaker joined hands with China’s largest battery manufacturer – CATL (Contemporary Amerex Technology).
