The Japanese automaker will soon upgrade its sales network in India. Honda Cars India (HCIL) plans to invest around Rs 260 crore along with its dealer partners to make its dealerships more premium and enhance customer experience. It has already made an investment of Rs 100 crore to upgrade over 100 showrooms highlighting the brand’s new corporate identity.
Speaking to an online media publication, Kunal Behl, Honda Cars India’s Marketing and Sales Vice-President has revealed that the company aims to revamp its entire sales network this year and next year. The upgrade will be done for the upcoming new Honda SUVs that will begin hitting roads next year. At present, the company has 330 outlets across 242 cities.
Talking about the upcoming new Honda SUVs, the carmaker is reported to bring in three new models to challenge the new Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Alacazar. Honda’s subcompact and mid-size SUVs will be based on the Amaze’s platform and could be offered with hybrid technology. Rumour has it that the Honda RS SUV concept based model will be introduced as the new-generation Honda WR-V in 2023. The model might make its global debut towards the end of this year.
The new Honda subcompact SUV could be made available with the 1.5L i-DTEC diesel and 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engines. The latter one might be benefited with the mild or strong hybrid system. Honda’s mid-size SUV is likely to share its powertrain with the City hybrid that uses Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine with two electric motors. Its overall length will be around 4.3 metre.
If reports are to be believed, the Japanese automaker is also considering a three-row SUV for India. It will be the longer version of Honda’s upcoming new mid-size SUV. It might come with 6 and 7-seats configuration options to attract wider audience. The new Honda 7-seater SUV is reported to share its platform with the new-generation Honda BR-V.
