Honda City RS Turbo Petrol Might Launch In India – Report

The fifth-generation Honda City sedan is all set to hit roads on coming 15th July. According to a latest report, the carmaker is considering the sportier City RS Turbo variant for the Indian market. The Honda City RS, which is already retailed in Thailand, comes packed with a 1.0L, three-cylinder turbo VTEC petrol engine. Paired to a 7-speed CVT automatic gearbox, the motor delivers a claimed power of 122PS at 5,500rpm and 173Nm of torque at 2,000rpm – 4,500rpm.

The 2020 Honda City RS Turbo is essentially the sportier version of the standard model. The carmaker has made minor styling upgrades to the model that distinguish it from the regular one. The RS Turbo features differently designed front and rear bumpers with black inserts. The blacked-out grille has honeycomb patter and special RS badging. Styling bits such as full LED headlamps have black inserts, black trunk-lid-mounted rear spoiler and darkened glass for the taillamps add more to its sportier appeal.

Unlike the standard model that comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, the new Honda City RS Turbo has been assembled with larger 16-inch alloys. The sportier version is exclusively offered in Ignite Red paint scheme. Sportier theme continues inside the cabin. It has sporty trimming on the centre console and dashboard. The red accents on the instrument cluster and new seat fabric with contrasting red stitching further differentiate it from the standard City. Read: 2020 Honda WR-V New Vs Old – Major Differences

In terms of pricing, the 2020 Honda City RS Turbo is estimated to be Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the standard model. Prices of the new-generation City are yet to be announced by the carmaker. Though, it’s likely to cost between Rs 11 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). If launched, the City RS variant will be put up against the turbo-petrol variant of the newly-launched Verna facelift.
