Hyundai Verna Beats City and Ciaz in October 2017 Sales

Hyundai India sold over 5,000 units of the Verna last month, while the City recorded a total sales of 4,366 units.

In September 2017, the new-generation Hyundai Verna dethroned its closest rival Maruti Ciaz from number one position, and became India’s top-selling mid-size sedan. Maintaining its sales momentum, the saloon has beaten its competitors for second consecutive month.  The new Verna registered over 20,000 bookings and 150,000 enquiries ever since its launch in late August 2017.

In October 2017, the sedan crossed over 5,000 units sales market beating the new City and Ciaz that did 4,366 units and 4,107 units respectively. Interestingly, the difference between the Verna and City sales figure increased to 634 units in October from 44 units of September 2017. In the domestic market, Hyundai India registered monthly sales of 49,588 units in October 2017, which is lower compared to 50,017 units of same month last year. In September 2017, the South Korean carmaker recorded a growth of 6.2% compared to 47,103 units of August 2017. Recently, Hyundai India suppressed India’s largest passenger carmaker – Maruti Suzuki – in the JD Power 2017 India Customer Service Index (CSI) study. While the South Korean carmaker scored 923 points, the Indo-Japanese car manufacturer scored 893 points. Talking about Hyundai’s future plan, the company is planning to bring in the facelifted version of its popular compact SUV – Creta. While the Creta facelift will hit showrooms in the second half of next year, the company recently updated the SUV’s existing model with minor changes.
