Honda, Citroen Soon Launch Hyundai Creta Rivalling SUVs

Hyundai Creta has been dominating the midsize SUV segment since its arrival in the Indian market. Currently, the SUV faces a tough competition from cars like Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. In the coming months, the segment will witness launch of two new models – Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross. While the Elevate SUV will make world debut on 6th June and its market launch is likely to happen by August, the C3 Aircross will go on sale during 2023 festive season.

The French automaker claims that the Citroen C3 Aircross has 90 percent localisation, thus it’s expected to be priced aggressively. The SUV underpins the brand’s CMP modular platform and share most of its design elements, features and powertrain with the C3 hatchback. Under the hood, it employs a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This engine-gearbox combination delivers a peak power of 110bhp and 190Nm of torque. Reports suggest that the carmaker will bring in its electric iteration at a later stage. Prices of the C3 Aicross SUV are expected to start from Rs 9 lakh and go up to Rs 15 lakh. More details here…

Honda’s upcoming midsize SUV has been designed on the City’s platform and it will be put up against the Hyundai Creta. Recently, the carmaker revealed it partially confirming some of its design features including a sunroof. The Honda Elevate will be around 4.3 metres in length, and could be offered with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine. The gasoline unit pushes out a peak power 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. The City’s hybrid powertrain is likely to be offered at a later stage. In terms of pricing, the Elevate SUV is expected to cost around Rs 11 lakh for the entry-level variant and up to Rs 17 lakh for the top-end variant. More details here…
