Honda Brio Mobilio MPV
Japanese auto major Honda has some really exciting product line-up scheduled for India in 2014. Whereas the Honda City has already been unveiled a couple of days back, two product that are yet to be unveiled in India are new generation Honda Jazz and the Honda Mobilio MPV. However, these products have already been showcased at different motor shows by Honda earlier.

The Honda Mobilio will be previewed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo for Indians, while the launch is expected to happen in March or April. Originally based on the company’s flagship hatchback Honda Brio, the Mobilio MPV will be an be positioned as an entry level MPV against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and others.

The Mobilio is expected to be made available with two engine options- 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. However, we expect the Mobilio’s entry level variant to sport Brio’s 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol mill, which is a more fuel efficient motor than the 1.5-litre i-VTEC.

The 1.5-litre i-VTEC is the same engine powering the Honda City, which churns out116bhp and 14.9kgm. The diesel engine powered Mobilio will churn out a maximum power and torque of 98.6bhp and 20.3kgm respectively. Both the engine units will be mated with a five speed manual. Being designed especially for the developing automotive market, this MPV will first debut in Indonesia then India.

The front fascia of Mobilio shares a great resemblance with the Honda Amaze. The fog lamps are well merged in a matte black casing and wider grille enhance the masculine look of the vehicle. However, the long van-shaped body design defines its genera.

With longer wheelbase, the Mobilio is quite spacious from inside. The new bells and whistles like in-dash stereo system, three spoke steering wheel, dual-tone theme and rich material make its interior more attractive. The seats are well cushioned. On its second row three passengers can sit comfortably, whereas its third row can accommodate only two passengers. As far as the pricing is concerned, we are expecting the Mobilio to be priced parallel to the Maruti Ertiga.
