Honda, the Japanese carmaker had showcased its all-new flagship SUV – Avancier – at the Auto China 2016. Based on the Honda Concept D SUV that was showcased at the 2015 Beijing Motor Show, the Honda Avancier will be positioned above the CR-V. Though the company already sells a product with the same name Avancier in Japan, the new one has got nothing to do with the former.
Prior to its launch in China, the technical specifications of the Avancier have been revealed on the web. There is no official information about the company’s plans of launching it in India, but we think it will be a good move for the company to bring it here as a brand builder. The company anyway plans to sell most of its important global models in India including the new-generation Civic, Accord and HR-V.

Honda Avancier Exterior
The new Honda SUV looks more like a Crossover than a proper SUV due to its coupe like shape. With a sloping roof-line, the Avancier might remind you of the BMW X6 which basically started the culture of coupe-shaped SUVs/Crossovers in the world. The car also gets LED headlamps with chrome bar running across the large mesh grille, bumper integrated silver skid plate, slightly-revised version of Honda’s new signature grille in chrome, LED fog lamps, wrap-around tail-lights, etc.
Honda Avancier Interior
While the exterior design of the product could be a debatable topic (some may like it and some may not), the Avancier’s cabin surely looks quite premium with leather upholstery, a new touch-screen infotainment system, an instrument cluster with a large MID, button-operated electromagnetic transmission system, all-black leather seats, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with control buttons and optimum use of chrome on dashboard, inside-door handles & AC vents.

Power for the new Avancier will come from an all-new 2.0-litre “Sport Turbo” VTEC petrol engine paired to 9-speed automatic gearbox. The power and torque figures of this engine stand at 268bhp and 370Nm respectively. The SUV will come with all-wheel drive (AWD) system. There could also be a 2.4-litre i-VTEC petrol engined model on offer with a 6-speed gearbox.

Upon its launch in China by 2016 end or early 2017, the Honda Avancier will face heat from cars like Ford Edge, Nissan Murano and others in the same category. If it comes to India, the SUV will rival entry-level luxury SUVs and likely to be priced over Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
