Honda BR-V All Set to Launch On 5th May 2016, Bookings Open

The much-awaited Honda BR-V compact SUV has been confirmed to be launched in India on May 5, 2016. During an interview, Jnaneshwar Sen, Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India has also confirmed that the BR-V will be priced “very competitively”. In order to keep the car within the reach of target buyers, Honda BR-V could be offered within the price range of Rs. 8 lakh – Rs. 12 lakh (ex-showroom). Dealers in certain cities have already started taking pre-orders for the new compact SUV at a token amount of Rs. 21,000.

The Honda BR-V will come with two engine options – a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. While the former delivers a claimed power of 118bhp with 145Nm of torque, the latter one offers 98.6bhp with 200Nm. Both the power mills are claimed to be high on fuel efficiency. Based on Honda’s new ‘Active Solid Motion’ design philosophy, the BR-V looks quite bold and sporty. It has a high ground clearance of 201mm that ensures its driving capabilities.

The BR-V also gets the longest wheelbase (2,660mm) in its segment, and thus offers more space than its rivals – i.e. Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. The overall length, width and height of the vehicle measure 4,445mm, 1,735mm and 1,650mm respectively. With a seven-seat layout, the compact SUV offers ample cabin space and legroom for front and rear seat passengers.

As far as features are concerned, the Honda BR-V comes equipped with several of them such as touch-screen audio system, multi-information display, automatic climate control, new Amaze-inspired dashboard, centre console with piano black finish, dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), vehicle stability assist (VSA), hill start assist, etc.
