Honda BRV Prices Increased By Up To Rs 14,000

Honda BR-V is available in 9 variants spread across 4 trims – E, S, V & VX – priced between Rs 8.88 lakh – Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

September 21, 2016 – Launched on May 5, 2016, the Honda BRV Compact SUV has received decent response from buyers in the country. The SUV had registered over 10,000 bookings in India till July 2016 and currently commands a waiting period of around 2-3 months. Honda Cars India has silently increased the prices of its entire lineup in the market including its latest offering – BRV. Launched at Rs 8.75 lakh – 12.90 lakh, the new SUV sees an increase of Rs 14,000.

The SUV is now priced at Rs 8.88 lakh for the base petrol variant and Rs 9.99 lakh for the base diesel model, while the top-end petrol and diesel variants are priced at Rs 12.13 lakh and Rs 13.04 lakh, respectively. It is available in two engine options – a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to front wheels come as standard while a CVT automatic with first-in-segment paddle shifters is available in petrol version only. The diesel version is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 21.9kmpl, while the gasoline unit delivers 15.4kmpl (MT) and 16kmpl (AT). Talking about features, the range-topping variant gets automatic climate control, Bluetooth telephony and audio streaming, push button start, multi-functional steering wheel, 16-inch alloys and LED light guides.

Interestingly, anti-lock braking system (ABS) comes as standard only in the BRV diesel and from mid-range petrol variants onwards, while the dual airbag protection is standard across the range. The Honda BRV petrol is priced in the range of Rs 8.88 lakh to Rs 12.13 lakh, while the diesel version is tagged at Rs 9.99 lakh for base variant and Rs 13.04 lakh for the top-end model. All the prices are ex-showroom New Delhi.

Honda Cars India has received 10,000 booking for its first seven-seater compact SUV so far.

2. Honda BRV Engine & Transmission 

The Honda BRV 7 Seater SUV is available with both petrol and diesel fuel options. Powering the petrol version of the SUV is a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that is capable of producing a maximum power output of 118bhp at 6,600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,600rpm. On the other hand, the oil burner is a fuel efficient 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit that also powers the Honda City. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 98.6bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm.

The petrol engine, with Zig-zag piston coating pattern and CCS (cooling control spacer) and two “advanced transmissions” – a new 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic with first-in-segment paddle shifters -, is claimed to offer a smoother acceleration and better driving performance. In order to achieve high fuel efficiency, Honda has increased its gear ratio range, and reduced the friction and frame weight.

Available in 7 seat configuration, the Honda BRV is the longest SUV in its league. The vehicle measures 4,453mm in length, 1,735mm in width and 1,666mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,662mm. The segment leading 210mm of ground clearance ensures hazzle free driving experience even on rugged Indian terrains. With all 3-row in position, the SUV offers a boot space of 223-litres which can be extended up to 691-litres by folding 3rd row seats.

Unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Honda BRV is the third product developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co Ltd. (HRAP) in Thailand. In India, the new Honda compact SUV is being produced at the carmaker‘s Tapukara, Rajasthan based plant. Initially, the company aims to produce around 36,000 units of the vehicle on annual basis. As a reminder, the Honda BRV first broke cover as a concept at the 2015 GIIAS and IIMS in Indonesia.

Based on ‘Man Maximum Machine Minimum’ design philosophy, the Honda BRV promises maximum space, kneeroom and high head room for the occupants. Features like leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, leather gear knob and leather door armrests add more to its premium appeal. Besides a spacious and premium cabin, the Honda BRV also offers several comfort and connectivity features such as a multi-information display, Bluetooth telephony and audio streaming, push button start, steering-mounted audio buttons, centre console with piano black finish, automatic climate control, etc.

The Honda BRV ensures passengers’ safety with anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), dual front airbags, hill start assist and vehicle stability assist (VSA). One must note that the aforementioned features vary variant-wise.
