Honda 2wheeler India has launched the 2017 Honda CB Hornet 160R in the country at Rs 82,095 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new model is available with BSIV compliant engine and AHO (Auto Headlamp On) function. Bookings for the 2017 naked streetfighter model have already commenced at a token amount of Rs 5,000, while deliveries will start from this month. Adding to it, the company has also introduced two new colour variants of Hornet 160R. These two new colours include Athletic Blue Metallic and Sports Red.

The naked streetbike features aggressive styling, and is claimed to deliver sporty performance. First unveiled at the Honda RevFest in August, the Honda’s new CB Hornet rivals the Yamaha FZ Version 2.0, Suzuki Gixxer 160 and others in its league. Just so you know, the ‘Hornet’ is a quite popular Honda brand name that has several motorcycles ranging from 250cc to 900cc, and for the first time this name will be used for a low capacity bike.

Talking about India-spec model, this CB Hornet is powered by a 162.71cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that is good for 15.6bhp and 14.76Nm of torque. For transmitting power to wheels, this engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The all-new CB Hornet 160R is powered by a 162.71cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that is claimed to deliver the class-leading power and a good low end torque. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 15.6bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 14.76Nm at 6,500rpm. A 5-speed gearbox with 1-down-4 up shift pattern transfers the drive via chain drive. It is claimed to have a top speed of 110kmph. Thanks to Honda Eco Technology (HET), the new Hornet 160R is claimed to offer a “high acceleration” and sporty performance. This system reduces engine weight and friction, and improves its fuel efficiency. It is claimed to return an ARAI-certified mileage of 59kmpl.

2017 Honda CB Hornet 160R Design

The CB Hornet 160R shares some of its design cues with the CX-01 concept, which was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. The bike sits on a tubular diamond frame, and features halogen headlamp with minimal fairing, muscular fuel tank, high-mounted handlebar, a black centre piece and plastic side cowls. It also gets highlighted knee recesses, a single piece seat, electric starter and fully digital instrument console.

Other design elements include a silver tailpiece, split grab rails, multi-spoke alloy wheels with black coat, dual-tone front mud-guard, clearshort silencer and X-shaped LED taillights. It is assembled with 17-inch multispoke alloy wheels that are shod with 100/80-17 and 140/70-17 front and rear tubeless tyres respectively. It comes equipped with telescopic front fork and semi-loaded rear mono suspension system. Its braking system comprised of front and rear disc brakes, coupled with Honda’s CBS (Combi braking system).
