Honda Cars India has issued a voluntary recall for its select models in the country. A total of 77,954 units have been affected under the recall exercise including 6,086 units of Honda Amaze compact sedan, 20,248 units of fourth-generation City sedan, 7,871 units of WR-V compact SUV, 6,235 units of Jazz hatchback, 5,170 units of Civic sedan, 1,737 units BR-V and 607 units of CR-V SUV. The key reason for the recall is a possible defective impellers installed in the fuel pumps of these vehicles. Check Out – 2022 Honda Civic First Official Picture & Details

The defective impellers might cause engine stopping or not starting at all. The carmaker has confirmed that the replacement of the defective component will be carried free of cost at any Honda dealership from 17th April 2021. Honda dealers will soon start contacting customers who may have been affected by the issue. Additionally, owners can also visit the company’s official website and fill in their 17-character vehicle identification number (VIN) to check if their vehicle needs any attention.

In other updates, the Japanese carmaker is planning to launch four new products in the coming years. The plan outlines City hybrid, HR-V hybrid, Honda Amaze facelift and a new sub-4 meter SUV. The Honda City Hybrid is scheduled to arrive this year within estimated price range of Rs 15 lakh – Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The model will feature a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine with two electric motors. While one of the motors works as Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), the other one will deliver power to the front-wheels via a single, fixed-ratio gearbox.

Rumour has it that Honda might bring in a sub-4 meter SUV early next year. The model will be based on the new Amaze’s platform and its production version is likely to be named Honda ZR-V. Honda HR-V Hybrid is reported to hit our shores towards the end of this year. The SUV will feature Honda’s e:HEV system that includes 1.5L iMMD petrol motor and two electric motors.
