Price of the Hero Xtreme 200S could be around Rs 90,000 – Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hero MotoCorp revealed its three all-new quarter-litre motorcycles (HX250, Xtreme 200S and XF3R) at the previous year’s Auto Expo. And the upcoming 2018 Delhi Auto Expo will witness the production version of the long-awaited Hero Xtreme 200S streetfigher. Though, the company has shelved the HX250 for the Indian market. The all-new Xtreme 200S will mark the re-entry of the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer in the 200-250cc bike segment. This naked streetfighter will be the flagship ‘Xtreme’ in the lineup and will sit above the Xtreme Sports. Once launched, the new Hero Xtreme 200S will take head-to-head against the Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 and Yamaha FZ25.

– The India launch of the all-new Hero Xtreme 200S has been confirmed for the Delhi Auto Expo that will kick start on February 9, 2018. This information comes from a media publication that recently interviewed a Hero’s senior official.

– Besides launching the bike, the home-grown bikemaker will expand its sales network in the country. The bikemaker announced that it will open a premium retail network for its 150cc and above capacity motorcycles. Hero’s all-new 200cc motorcycle – Xtreme 200S will be rolled out around the 2018 Auto Expo. The biennial automotive event will begin from February 9, 2018 in Greater Noida.

Speaking to TOI, Dr Markus Braunsperger, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Hero MotoCorp and Head of Hero MotoSports, said: “If you might remember, I said that we will make the Xtreme 200S happen before the next Auto Expo. So you can expect the Xtreme around the Auto Expo. We are at the finish line. Hero’s new 200cc premium sports motorcycle will be completely built locally that will surely help the bikemaker achieve aggressive pricing. In the 200cc bike space, the new Hero Xtreme 200 might undercut prices of its arch rivals including TVS Apache RTR 200, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and Yamaha FZ25.

Production version of the bike is likely to stay true to its concept. If fact, it will feature some more evolved bits that will make it look sportier than the model that we have seen at the previous year’s Delhi Auto Expo. Sporting an aggressive styling and a powerful engine, the Hero Xtreme 200S price in India is expected to fall between Rs 90,000 and Rs 1.10 lakh. Hero Xtreme 200S Design

What’s so special about the new Hero Xtreme 200 S is its ‘Cheetah’ inspired design (as claimed by the company). Similar to its concept, the production-spec model might feature sporty and sharp styling bits that will attract young enthusiasts in India. The bike sits on the diamond type chassis, and features a mono halogen headlamp with twin LED pilot lights at the front end. It also gets a contrast-coloured front mud guard, dual tone seat, LED tail lamp and coloured inner mud guard at the rear tyre.

This new naked streetfighter comes equipped with an analog-digital instrument console. The production model will look largely identical to the concept. Though, Hero will make changes to the overall styling of the motorcycle to give it a sportier and mature look. This entry-level bike has been assembled with the multi-spoke 17-inch wheels. With an aim to harmonious synergy between body and mechanical elements, the bikemaker has added a vertical flow towards its rear and weight at the front.

Dimensions – This new 200cc naked streetfighter has been designed to offer comfortable ride for both rider and pillion. The bike’s concept that broke cover at the 2016 Auto Expo was 2,100mm long, 780mm wide and 1,180mm tall. The motorcycle has a 1,325mm wheelbase, and its ground clearance stands at 163mm. It carries offers a kerb weight of 148kgs, and offers a seat height of 800mm.

At the heart of the Xtreme 200 S will be an all-new 200cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This motor is fitted to a diamond frame chassis, which has been modified to accommodate a monoshock suspension setup for shock absorption at the rear. The bike can offer a maximum power output of 18.5bhp (18.6 PS) at 8,500rpm, while pushing out a peak torque of 17.2Nm at 6,000rpm. A 5-speed gearbox will deliver power to the rear wheel.

Compared to the Xtreme Sports, this 200cc bike is more powerful and torquier. To be more specific, its power and torque figures are 3bhp and 5Nm higher than the former one. However, the Xtreme 200S lacks behind in terms of engine output and other details than other bikes in its league. The company might boost its new 200cc bike with its new i3S technology that will surely make it a frugal machine. The exact details about the naked streetfighter are yet to be announced. The company aims to keep the kerb weight of the bike at lower end. Less kerb weight will help achieve greater power to weight ratio. The Xtreme 200 S is likely to have an electronic speed limit up to 130kmph.

Braking system of the new Hero 200cc bike consists of the front and rear disc brakes. Interestingly, the Xterme 200S could be Hero Motocorp’s first motorcycle to feature an optional ABS (anti-lock braking system). While there is telescopic forks unit at the front axle, the rear axle gets a monoshock unit. The Xtreme 200 S will be the second Hero bike to get monoshock suspension unit, first is Hero Impulse.

In the entry-level sportbike segment, the Xtreme 200S will go up against the TVS Apache RTR 200, KTM Duke 200, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and other 200-250cc bikes.
