Power source for the Hero Xtreme 200S will be an all-new 200cc, single-cylinder, air cooled engine that’s good for 18.5bhp and 17.2Nm.

Hero MotorCorp, the homegrown two-wheeler maker has recently phase out a range of products from its line-up. Interestingly, the company has also removed the Xtreme from its line-up. This indicates that a range of new Hero bikes are ready to hit Indian shores. One such bike will be the much-awaited Hero Xtreme 200S, which was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo. Though the unveiled model was an early prototype, the world’s largest two-wheeler maker is gearing up for the launch of the production spec Xtreme 200S by early 2018.
With this motorcycle, the company is set to make its entry into the growing 200-250cc segment. Hero has said it time and again that it has aggressive plans for the premium motorcycle segment, and the arrival of this naked street-fighter is part of that. Alongside this naked bike, Hero MotoCorp had also unveiled the HX250R fully-faired 250cc bike that is likely to be launched in 2018.
The Xtreme 200S design seems heavily inspired from the Xtreme Sports, but it has been evolved to offer a sportier feel. The naked bike gets a number of aggressive styling cues. It gets an edgy headlamp that looks sharp, and the sculpted fuel tank with aerodynamic shrouds. Both headlamp and the tail-lamp will get LED units. Its digital instrument console gets an analogue tachometer. The motorcycle is claimed to have ‘Cheetah’-inspired design that will appeal young enthusiasts.
Based on a diamond type frame, the motorcycle gets an air-cooled, single-cylinder 200cc engine. Coupled to a 5-speed gearbox, this engine produces 18.6PS and 17.2Nm of torque. Upon its launch, the bike will take on the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 and the Yamaha FZ25. It comes with disc brakes for both wheels, and also has an ABS system. Hero MotoCorp is likely to launch the new Xtreme 200S naked street-fighter in the early 2018. The company could unveil the production ready model at the Auto Expo 2018, while the launch is likely to take place during March-April 2018. Speaking to media, Mr Pawan Munjal, Chairman & MD, Hero Group said that Hero MotoCorp has rolled out three new products across different segment since the last Auto Expo. And the company plans to bring in products like Xtreme 200S and Hero HX250R to have a significant share in the premium motorcycle category.

With high-level of local components, the Xtreme 200S is likely to undercut prices of most of its rivals including Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. This motorcycle is likely to be the most affordable 200cc bike in the country. The naked streetfighter is propelled by an all-new 200cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This engine is coupled to a diamond frame chassis, which has been modified to accommodate a monoshock suspension setup for shock absorption at the rear. It is capable of producing a maximum power output of 18.5bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 17.2Nm at 6,000rpm. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed gearbox. Braking system of the bike comprises of disc brakes at front and rear. The Xterme 200S could be Hero Motocorp’s first motorcycle to feature an optional ABS (anti-lock braking system). Hero bikes are known for offering high fuel efficiency. The new motorcycle could get the company’s new i3S technology, which will help it achieve high efficiency. We expect the bike to return close to 45kmpl on city roads and 50kmpl on highways.

The exact details about the naked streetfighter are yet to be announced. The company aims to keep the kerb weight of the bike at lower end. Less kerb weight will help achieve greater power to weight ratio. It is expected to have a top speed of around 130kmph.
Based on the strong diamond type chassis, the new 200cc Hero motorcycle looks quite aggressive and sporty. This sportbike carries air vents in front cowl, belly-pan and tank-shroud that improves engine’s cooling and performance. Other design elements include a mono halogen headlamp with twin LED pilot lights, LED tail lamp, dual tone seat, colored inner mud guard at the rear tyre and a contrast-colored front mud guard. The bike also gets an analog-digital instrument console.
This entry-level bike comes fitted with multi-spoke 17-inch wheels. With an aim to harmonious synergy between body and mechanical elements, the bikemaker has added a vertical flow towards its rear and weight at the front.
