Power source for the Hero Xtreme 200S will be an all-new 200cc, single-cylinder, air cooled engine that’s good for 18.5bhp and 17.2Nm.

Hero Xtreme 200S had made its public debut at the 2016 Auto Expo. This naked bike was put on display alongside the Hero Duet-E, Hero XF3R and new Splendor iSmart 110. The company has said it time and again that it has aggressive plans for the premium motorcycle segment, and the arrival of the Hero Xtreme 200S is part of that.
It will be the first 200cc naked sportsbike from the homegrown two-wheeler maker. This motorcycle is basically the more powerful version of the existing Xtreme with new design. The bike features a ‘Cheetah’-inspired design that will appeal young enthusiasts. Upon its launch, it will be pitted against motorcycles like Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 and the Yamaha FZ25. If reports are to be believed, the new Xtreme 200S naked streetfighter will go on sale in the country in the second half of 2017. Speaking to media, Mr Pawan Munjal, Chairman & MD, Hero Group said that Hero MotoCorp has rolled out three new products across different segment since the last Auto Expo. And the company plans to bring in products like Xtreme 200S and Hero HX250R to have a significant share in the premium motorcycle category.

The naked streetfighter will be powered by an all-new 200cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 18.5bhp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 17.2Nm at 6,000rpm. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox. Unlike its 150cc sibling, the Hero Xterme 200S comes equipped with mono suspension setup for shock absorption at the rear axle. Braking system of the bike consists of front and rear disc brakes. Hero bikes are known for offering high fuel efficiency. The new motorcycle could get the company’s new i3S technology, which will help it achieve high efficiency. We expect the bike to return close to 45kmpl on city roads and 50kmpl on highways.

The exact details about the naked streetfighter are yet to be announced. The company aims to keep the kerb weight of the bike at lower end. Less kerb weight will help achieve greater power to weight ratio. It is expected to have a top speed of around 130kmph.

This sportbike carries air vents in front cowl, belly-pan and tank-shroud that improves engine’s cooling and performance. Other design elements include a mono halogen headlamp with twin LED pilot lights, LED tail lamp, dual tone seat, colored inner mud guard at the rear tyre and a contrast-colored front mud guard. The bike also gets an analog-digital instrument console.
This entry-level bike comes fitted with multi-spoke 17-inch wheels. With an aim to harmonious synergy between body and mechanical elements, the bikemaker has added a vertical flow towards its rear and weight at the front.
