Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch a series of new motorcycles and scooters next year. The company is also planning to enter into the growing 250cc entry level sports bike segment. At the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, Hero MotoCorp unveiled the new HX250R 250cc motorcycle that shocked every visitor and critics. It is expected that the motorcycle will hit Indian shores by the mid-2015.
Manufactured by Hero with the help of EBR, the Hero HX250R motorcycle is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve engine that uses liquid-cooling and fuel-injection. This engine is capable of producing 31bhp of power at 9000rpm and a peak torque of 26Nm. It is clubbed with a six-speed transmission. The exhaust pipe is situated under the seat.
The suspension system of the Hero HX250R comprises of telescopic forks at the front and a 5-step adjustable monoshock with shim valve damping at the rear. Talking about braking, the sports bike features three-piston caliper with 300mm disc and 200mm disc brakes. It also equipped with a combined braking system with optional ABS. The bike measures 2085mm in length, 735mm in width and 1145mm in height, and it comes with 17-inch alloy wheels. LED lights are on offer at both front and rear. The ground clearance stands at 145mm, while the wheelbase is 1370mm.
The Hero HX250R is expected to be priced aggressively in the market. It is likely to cost around Rs. 1.5 to 1.8 lakh, ex-showroom. The bike is expected to attain a top speed of over 160kmph, while 0-100kmph is likely to be less than 8 seconds.
