Hero MotoCorp is all set to roll out its first electric scooter on 7th October 2022. The company has already sent launch invites to its dealers, investors and global distributors. The event will be held in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The new Hero electric scooter will come under the company’s new Vida sub-brand that’s formed especially for its emerging mobility solutions. While prices of the model will be revealed in coming weeks, it’s expected to cost around Rs 1 lakh and target mass market.
Once launched, the new Hero electric scooter will be positioned against the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. Though, it could undercut most of its rivals. Earlier, the e-scooter was scheduled to launch in March 2022, but it’s delayed due to supply chain issues and shortage of several components. Hero’s new e-scooter has been developed at its Jaipur based R&D hub at the Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) and its production will take place at its Andhra Pradesh based facility.
The new Vida sub-brand was unveiled on 1st July 2022. As of now, specifications and features of the upcoming Hero electric scooter are under the wraps. Just so you know, Hero MotoCorp had announced its strategic partnership with Taiwan-based Gogoro firm for developing EV and battery swapping network in the country. Gogoro currently manages more than 3,75,000 riders and 2,000 battery swapping points.
In other updates, the home-grown two-wheeler maker has been testing the two new 300cc bikes – Xtreme 300 and XPluse 300. Both motorcycles underpin an all-new platform and use a 300cc engine tuned for higher power output. While the Hero Xtreme 300 will be a fully-faired bike, the XPluse 3000 will be a new adventure motorcycle. The spotted test mule features front spoked wheels with petal disc, red trellis frame, clutch cover, chrome finished side stand and swingarm.
