Haval Jolion Could Be Jeep Compass Rival In India

It seems like Great Wall Motors (GWM) is getting ready to execute its plans for the India entry. The carmaker has already setup an office in Gurugram with team of around 20 members and is reported to resume its brand communication activities very soon. In the latest update, the Chinese carmaker filed a trademark application for the Haval Jolion nameplate in India.

It could be the maiden offering from GWM and is likely to arrive towards the end of this year or early next year. One must note that there is no official word on its launch timeline. Here, it’s likely to compete against the Jeep Compass.

Haval Jolion Specs

The Haval Jolion SUV underpins the brand’s modular LEMON platform that’s compatible to different body styles including sedan, MPV and SUV. The carmaker says that the architecture emphasis on exterior design, cabin space, performance and electrification. It’s claimed to improve lateral stiffness (15%) and steering accuracy (16%) and reduce centre of gravity (30mm) and pitch angle (50%). Compared to the Haval H2, the Jolion is slightly smaller with 4472mm of length, 1814mm of width and 1619mm of height.

Upfront, the new Haval SUV features quad LED projector headlamps with T-shaped DRLs and the brand’s signature 6-pointed mesh grille. Some of its key design highlights include aluminum alloy wheels, curvy side creases and C-shaped LED taillamps.

 Sitting on 2700mm long wheelbase, the Haval Jolion SUV offers decent cabin space for 5 adult passengers. It gets a floating 12.3-inch infotainment system and a touch panel along with the 7-inch virtual instrument cluster, wirless charger, rotary shift dial, a 360 degree camera, head-up display, panoramic sunroof, multi-function steering wheel with paddle shift, 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and many more goodies.

Under the hood, the Jolion SUV employs a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine paired to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The motor delivers a peak power of 147bhp and 210Nm of torque. The SUV offers 4 driving modes – Standard, Eco, Snowfield and Sport.
